For Some People, Pinching Pennies Means Getting Rid of Pets

Here's my opinion on this story: Yes, the economy is very bad right now. However, people need to realize that the lives of their cats and other pets are not expendible. You shouldn't get rid of your pets because you are having money problems. People wouldn't consider getting rid of their human children because they don't have much money and I think that people shouldn't get rid of their pets either.

Believe me, I know what it is like not to have enough money - I have been unemployed for months after the company I worked for shut down last February and I've been unable to find work. And yes, I'm very poor, however, I wouldn't get rid of my pets because of it. I don't have much money, but instead of buying food for myself, I spend what little money I have on food for my pets. It all comes down to choices and how important you feel your pet's lives are. I guess my cats are lucky because I wouldn't dream of giving them up because money is tight. I consider their lives to be as important as my own and so I am willing to make do with less so that they can have more.
